(The Homeless situation in El Centro)…It was discussed at a special meeting Tuesday.

Downtown El Centro Merchants met with El Centro Police and a City Council member to discuss the issue. Merchant complaints ranged from criminal burglaries, vandalism, drugs and the Town Square taken over by the Homeless. The police said they are working to develop programs to deal with the homeless. Spread the Love Charity said they were providing bus tickets to get the homeless reunited with their families. Councilman Jason Jackson said the City was developing a task force to come up with solutions to the problems. Several merchants volunteered to serve on the Task Force.
