(Centennial Celebration)…It was marked Saturday.

The Boyce Aten American Legion Post 25 held the 100th anniversary celebration Saturday. It also served as a membership recruitment event. Several dignitaries attended the celebration, including Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia, 5th Area Commander Mike Weir, District 30 Commander Robert Morales, Post 25 Commander Mike Lizarraga, and Junior Post Deputy Vice Commander For California’s American Legion Area 5 Tracy Rascoe. After the ceremonies there were free Hot Dogs, music and more. The Club 25 was open to the public with Karaoke, music and drinks for adults. Rascoe said the Post was the 25th American Legion Post in the United States, receiving its Charter in 1919, just months after the American Legion was created. Post 25 is named after Boyce Aten, the first casualty of World War one from the Imperial County. The Post serves resident of Imperial and El Centro and is located on Broadway in El Centro.
