(Imperial Chamber not surprised)…The Imperial City Council cut ties with the Chamber.

At their meeting Wednesday the City Council to terminate the 3 year service and agreement contract with the Chamber. The contract was due to end in June, 2020. Chamber officials say they were not surprised by the action. They say they had planned for it in their 2019-2020 budget. In 2017, as part of the Chamber’s Strategic Plan, one of the goals was to become independent of the City within 3 years, in order to provide a stronger voice for their members. They said in the past 2 years the Chamber has increased its membership by 150%, increased its overall budget and revenue, and is financially solid. The Chamber says their focus will continue to promote and enhance the positive development of all segments of the community, to support the economic stability of the city, and to help businesses prosper and grow.
