Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District, an affiliate of the Scripps Health Network, is hosting the event at Pioneers Memorial Hospital. The 2nd Annual Breastfeeding Celebration will run from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. The event coincides with National Breastfeeding Month, which has been celebrated each August since 2011, when it was first established by the United States Breastfeeding Committee. The annual campaign aims to bring awareness to the importance of breastfeeding both for newborns and their mothers. The California Department of Public Health says breastfeeding is the first step to a healthy life and forms a natural and lasting bond between mother and child. At PMH, the event will celebrate nursing mothers with a lunch and various giveaways, and will also highlight local physicians and healthcare providers in the Imperial Valley. The event will be held in the Auditorium at PMH on Legion Road in Brawley.
