(Centennial anniversary)…The Boyce Aten American Legion Post 25 is 100 years old.

The Post was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veteran’s organization. Tuesday the County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution honoring the American Legion Post on its 100th anniversary. The Post, named after Boyce Aten the first casualty of war from Imperial County, serves El Centro and Imperial. Aten was killed during World War One. Officials say the success of the Post depends entirely on active membership, participation and volunteerism. They will be hosting celebration/membership recruitment on August 24th at Post 25 on Broadway in El Centro. The public is encouraged to attend, as well as all those interested in becoming a member.
