Border Patrol agents rescued a father and son who were struggling in a canal.

Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents saw the father and son from Honduras enter the Salinity Canal near the Morelos Dam. Agents noticed that the pair was struggling in the swift water and were being swept downstream. A rescue disc was deployed but the pair were not able to grab it. Agents instructed the father to grab a nearby bush and hand the child over to them. He was able to do that and agents pulled the child to safety and then were able to pull the father from the canal. The pair were taken to a local hospital where the father was diagnosed with acute respiratory distress. He was treated and released from the hospital. Both the father and son were processed for immigration violations.
