(27 year old Calexico woman suffers fatal injuries)….Four others in the vehicle suffered major to minor injuries.
The single vehicle collision occurred early Sunday morning. The California Highway Patrol says the 2005 Honda Civic was being driven by 19-year-old Jaritza Mata of Brawley. At just after 5:00 in the morning, the vehicle was headed Southbound on Highway 86. The CHP says ran off the west road edge of the Highway. They say the driver over-corrected to the left. The vehicle traveled in a southeasterly direction, across both southbound lanes and ran off the east road edge and into the dirt center median, near Larsen Road. The Highway Patrol says the vehicle rolled when it hit the center median. Two passengers in the vehicle were ejected. 27-year-old Azeneth Hernandez suffered fatal injuries. 24-year-old Javier Quezada Garcia of Brawley suffered a broken femur and abrasions. The Highway Patrol says neither of the ejected passengers were wearing seatbelts at the time. 20-year-old Juan Carlos Simo of Brawley and the driver complained of pain. They were taken to Pioneers Memorial Hospital for treatment.
