(Santo Tomas Swap Meet)…It officially closed last week.

Swap Meet officials said it was too expensive to comply with all the city ordinances and facility inspections. Calexico Mayor Bill Hodge took to social media over the weekend to say the City did not want the Swap Meet to close. He said the City Council and staff would be meeting Monday to discuss ways to keep the business open. Tomas Swap Meet has been operating in Calexico for over 50 years, and had employed over 300 people when it was fully operational. A fire a few months ago forced the Swap Meet to close down. The city later said they could reopen, but had to be in compliance with city ordinances.
