Renewable energy technology will take center stage Thursday.

The Southern California Gas Company , in partnership with the Center for Energy Sustainable , Hyperlight Energy , Genifuel Corporation and the STARS Corporation , will host a renewable energy technology dat at the San Diego State University Imperial Valley , Brawley Campus. Three different renewable energy technologies will be demonstrated for local officials , state regulators , members of the business community , the media , and other invited guests. Hyperlight Energy will demonstrate concentrated solar power which uses the sun's power to generate heat for industrial processes. The Hyperlight technology is being demonstrated in conjunction with Genifuel's hydrothermal processing technology , which uses heat and pressure to convert wet organic matter into renewable natural gas. The third technology being demonstrated is the solar thermochemical advanced reactor system or STARS. This produces energy through a thermochemical process where the sun provides the thermal energy to break down natural gas and water into hydrogen and carbon dioxide in a process called team methane reforming.

The demonstrations will be held Thursday , June 27, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Brawley Campus of SDSU-IV is located at 560 East Highway 78.
