(Heroin and Meth seized)….It happened Wednesday morning.

El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents were working the Highway 86 immigration checkpoint. At around 7:40 in the morning a 21 year old man drove a white 2006 Nissan into the checkpoint. A Border Patrol canine detection team alerted to the vehicle and it was sent to the secondary inspection area. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 14 packages hidden inside all four tires of the vehicle. The packages contained 78 pounds of methamphetamine, valued at $179,400, and 10.5 pounds of heroin, valued at $241,500. The driver, a US citizen, the vehicle and the narcotics were all turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
