(Memory Gardens has not been forgotten)…The Cemetery is located between Imperial and Brawley along Highway 86.

The up-keep was stopped years ago. The cemetery became unrecognizable, with weeds, sunken headstones and no vegetation at all. Locals complained and asked the County for assistance in doing something, anything to bring the cemetery into a presentable cemetery, out of respect for those buried there. The cemetery is the final resting place of several military veterans. While the County was trying to figure out what they could do, Members of Veteran’s groups volunteered to clean up the cemetery, plant some trees, restore headstones and the monument at the entrance. Recently County Supervisor Mike Kelley said the county had not forgotten the cemetery. He said the state has rejected all requests for assistance. Kelley said the County is trying to track down the owner of the property to try to get them to be responsible for the cemetery.
