(Holiday rescues)…El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents made the rescues.

There were two incidents over the 3 day Memorial Day Weekend. In the first incident patrolling agents were notified of an individual had crossed into the US illegally and was injured. Border Patrol Search Trauma and Rescue, or BORSTAR, was called in. They located the individual and found he had a leg injury. The individual had crossed with a group, and was left behind. The individual was transported to an area hospital by air transport. The group had already been taken into custody. The other incident involved six individuals found in a canal east of Calexico. All six were struggling and screaming for help. Border Patrol agents jumped into the canal and pulled all six from the water. The six were checked and found not to be injured. All those rescued were found to be citizens of Mexico and all, except for the first rescue, were transported to the El Centro Sector Station for processing.
