Two U.S. citizens are in custody after Border Patrol agents found nearly 90 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in their SUV.

The incident occurred at about 1:50 p.m. Tuesday at the checkpoint east of Yuma. The driver of the SUV was referred to secondary inspection where a Border Patrol canine team alerted to the vehicle. Agents searched the SUV and found 80 packages of methamphetamine hidden throughout the vehicle. The meth has an estimated value of over $255,000. The driver , a 26-year old man , a resident of Yuma , and the passenger , a 24-year old woman from Idaho , were arrested on drug smuggling charges.
