(National Prescription Drug Take Back Day)....It is this Saturday.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and their partners are once again staging the event. They say over the course of 16 prior events, the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day initiative continues to remove high amounts of opiods and other medicines from the nation's homes, where they are vulnerable to misuse, theft or abuse by family members and visitors, including children and teens. Now in its 9th year, The DEA has collected a total of nearly 11 million pounds, more than 5,400 tons, of expired, unused and unwanted perscription medications through its take back events. This weekend approximately 6,000 collection sites manned by nearly 5,000 partner law enforcement agencies will be open from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. The sites will not be able to accept liquids, needles or other sharp objects. Local collection sites will be; Von's in Brawley and El Centro, Food For Less in Calexico, and at the El Centro Sector Border Patrol Station on Aten Road.
