(Unhealthy Air Quality in Mexicali)…The Air Quality Alert was issued at 9:00 Wednesday morning.
The recently installed monitoring station in Mexicali recorded very high levels of PM 2.5. That is a finite particulate matter, create mostly from vehicle emissions. People most at risk as a result of the high levels of PM 2.5 are those with respiratory of heart disease, the elderly and children. It is recommended the at risk groups eliminate physical activity and remain indoors as much as possible until the high levels are reduced significantly. At mid-morning, air quality was listed as moderate in Brawley, Calexico and El Centro.
