(Supervisors discuss AB 854)….The Bill was introduced by Assemblyman Chad Mayes.
The Bill seeks to increase the District Board, with the majority of the members coming from Riverside County. The Imperial Irrigation District Board discussed the Bill last Friday, and said it threatens the IID Water Rights, as well as affordable electric rates in the Coachella Valley. The IID strongly opposed the bill. Tuesday the County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to Absolutely oppose AB 854. IID Director Alex Cardenas told the Supervisors that the IID had a team in Sacramento this week talking with legislators about the bill and how damaging it would be.
