(Interim Ambulance Contract Formalized)….The County Board of Supervisors took action Tuesday.

The Board approved the interim agreement American Medical Response Ambulance Service. AMR stepped in after Schaefer Gold Cross informed the County they would not be able to fulfill their current contract. Officials with Gold Cross said the company was experiencing financial difficulty. County officials determined the problem was much worse, and let Gold Cross out of their contract immediately. In developing an interim plan, AMR out of San Diego stepped up, hiring the majority of the Gold Cross personnel and providing immediate coverage for Imperial County on February 20th. Tuesday the Supervisors approved a 60 day contract and they agreed to pay administrative costs. In the meantime, the County will have time to prepare a competitive process to contract with a permanent provider.
