A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for the Southern California mountains.

The National Weather Service says a cold storm will move into the San Bernardino , Riverside and San Diego County mountains starting Wednesday afternoon with periods of gusty westerly winds and snow showers expected through Thursday night. NWS says that heavy snow is expected with total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches expected. Localized amounts up to 24 inches could happen on the highest peaks. Wind gusts of 50 to 60 miles per hour are also expected in the mountains. The snow level lower to 2,500 to 3,500 feet through Thursday night. Forecasters say that you should plan on difficult travel conditions.
