(And the winner is….)….Sweepstakes winner, that is.
The 2019 SHINE Carrot Festival Cooking Contests wrapped up Thursday night with the awarding of the Sweepstakes trophy. Maxine Bonneau was the sweepstakes winner with her Golden Chicken Pot Pie. 2nd place was awarded to Mari Pemberton with her Chili Roasted Carrot Tacos, and 3rd place went to Mayor David Bradshaw with his Copper Pennies. Becky Miller received Honorable Mention for her Carrot Cake Pie. The Holtville Carrot Festival continues with a busy weekend. Tonight is the Live Music Concert on Holt Avenue. It starts at 7:00 pm. Saturday starts with the Carrot Festival Races at 7:00 am. The 72nd Annual Carrot Festival Parade starts at 10:00 am. The Carnival starts at 12:30. The Parade awards will be presented at the same time. At 1:30 there will be entertainment in the Gazebo. The Inaugural Wing Cook-off will also be held over the weekend, wrapping up on Sunday at 12:30 pm.
