(The outreach was a success)…A report was given to the Board of Supervisors this week.

Paula Llanas, Assistant Director of the Department of Social Services provided the update. It was the recent outreach events to assist Federal employees impacted by the partial government shutdown. Llanas said approximately 1,100 applications were received, with 650-700 cases approved to receive Cal-Fresh benefits. She said many of the visitor’s utilized services and aid provided by event partners, including the Employment Development Department, Inland Fair Housing, First Imperial Credit Union, Sun Community Credit Union, Imperial Irrigation District, water districts from various cities, Sister Evelyn Mourey Center, Spread the Love Charity, 211, Imperial County Workforce Development and Imperial County Department of Child Support Services.
