Eastbound traffic on Interstate 8 will be redirected Thursday.

Caltrans crews will redirect both eastbound lanes of the freeway on to the westbound lanes. The crossover will begin about 2 miles east of State Route 115 / Van Der Linden Road to just west of State Route 98. Westbound motorists will keep using the existing detour on Even Hewes Highway. The switch over is expected to last through the summer of 2019. Caltrans also advises that some occasional temporary lane and shoulder closures along I-8 from the arear of State Route 111 to near Orchard Road.

The adjustments are part of the I-8 Update Project that is rehabilitating the pavement on 48 miles on the freeway. Construction began in 2016 and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
