The Imperial County Coroners Office has released the name of one of the victims in Monday nights wrong way driver accident.
Andrea G. Aguilar , 30 , of Calexico , was driving eastbound on Interstate 8 at about 9:30 p.m. Monday when her SUV collided head on with a van travelling the wrong way on the freeway. Aguilar sustained major blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the wrong way vehicle , a 75-year old woman from South Carolina , has not been positively identified yet. She also died at the scene from major blunt force trauma. The accident remains under investigation. According to the California Highway Patrol , both drivers were wearing seat belts and the CHP said that it does not appear that alcohol was a factor in the collision.
