(Low temperatures and very high humidity)…That resulted in a lot of fog Monday morning.

Dense patchy fog was reported across the county. Foggy conditions could result in tragic traffic conditions. That was not the case Monday. There were some incidents, but nothing serious. At 7:00 am a semi stopped in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 8, west of the Sand Hills Rest area. Traffic was backed up for over a quarter mile. Both eastbound lanes were closed for almost an hour before the California Highway Patrol could direct traffic around the rig. No damage or injury was reported. A two vehicle collision was reported on westbound Evan Hewes Highway, near Bennett Road. There were no injuries reported, but the extreme fog slowed traffic to a crawl. Defective traffic lights were reported across the county
