The El Centro Sector California Highway Patrol will go into their Maximum Enforcement Period for the Christmas Holiday period Friday, as well. The CHP says the Checkpoint will be set up somewhere within the Imperial County. The goal of the CHP is to ensure the safe passage of each and every motorist by targeting roads where there is a high frequency of intoxicated or unlicensed drivers. They say a sobriety/driver license checkpoint is a proven effective tool for achieving their goal and is designed to augment existing patrol operations. The Checkpoint Friday will be in operation from 7:00 pm until 3:00 am Saturday morning.
