(Sick-out in Calexico)…It was Friday.

A number of CSEA Union members in the Calexico Unified School District called in sick. The Union said the union was making a statement; they are not happy with the current negotiations with the school district. District officials said while there was an unusually high number of absences of staff members providing support services. They assured the public that all the schools and services functioned successfully, with no danger to students, teachers or staff members. They said the education of the students went on uninterrupted. All school sites and the district office remained open. The District Superintendent Carlos Gonzalez said while there were some absences, the majority of staff and teachers reported for work as normal.
