The California Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that has resulted in at least 2 dead and as many as 10 people injured according to San Diego media accounts.

The accident was reported at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 8 near the Golden Acorn Casino i8n eastern San Diego County. Initial information indicates a vehicle travelling westbound on Interstate 8 at over 100 mph and using the shoulder and center divider to pass other vehicles went out of control and rolled over. The CHP closed Interstate 8 in both directions as they investigated the accident. The injured were transferred t6o San Diego hospitals by ground ambulance due to the bad weather conditions on the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
