(Man rescued)…It happened Thursday morning.

El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to patrol near the All American Canal came upon a man in distress in the water. Agents said the man was wearing a life vest, but was obviously too exhausted to swim to the banks of the canal. The agents deployed water rescue devices, but could not successfully pull the man to safety. A Border Patrol Search Trauma and Rescue Team responded to the scene and successfully pulled the man to safety. After pulling him out of the water, he presented signs of hypothermia. BORSTAR paramedics began to treat the man and called for Emergency Medical Transportation. He was taken to a local hospital for further treatment. This was the second rescue this fiscal year.
