Supervising Deputy Coroner Sergeant Eric Frazier says autopsies on the two are scheduled for Tuesday. The 22-year-old woman and 3-year-old child were rescued from a burning apartment early Sunday morning. They were taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center, along with a 22 year old man. The Hospital notified the Coroner’s office at 5:17 Sunday morning that the woman and child had succumbed. The man was transported to a San Diego area Hospital for treatment. The fire in the 600 block of Commercial in El Centro was reported at 3:00 Sunday morning. Arriving firefighters found a man outside the first floor apartment overcome by smoke and bleeding. The man had been attempting to rescue the other people in the apartment. Officials say an arson investigation is underway. They say the Arson Task Force was activated because of the sensitivity and nature of the call.
