33-year-old Cliff Contreras was a Holtville resident. The California Highway Patrol says Contreras was driving a Honda Motorcycle at around 2:00 Sunday morning. He was driving south from El Centro on Imperial Avenue to Interstate 8, using the onramp. For reasons still under investigation, Contreras allowed his motorcycle to drift to the right and off the roadway. The Honda collided with the metal and concrete raised guardrail into the dirt berm next to the onramp. Contreras was ejected from the motorcycle, landing down the onramp. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced at the scene. The collision remains under investigation.
