The National Weather Service says the Imperial Valley and surrounding areas will experience some high winds.

The Colorado River Valley is expecting strong northerly winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 miles per hour. The winds are predicted to pick up late Sunday night and continue through Monday evening.

The mountains of eastern San Diego County are under a red flag warning from late Sunday night through Tuesday evening. NWS says that north to east winds of 20 to 40 miles per hour can be expected with gusts up to 60 mph. Isolated gusts up to 75 mph may occur in wind prone areas. The winds , along with dry conditions will increase the threat of fires.

For most of the Imperial Valley NWS says that 10 to 15 mph winds can be expected with gusts up to 30 mph.
