44-year-old Warren Montgomery is now the permanent Warden of Calipatria State Prison. The position does not need Senate confirmation. Montgomery had served as the interim Warden of the facility since 2013. The new Warden is an Indio resident. Montgomery began his career in the state prison system in 1993 as a medical assistant at the Chuckawalla Valley State Prison. He worked his way up to Chief Deputy Administrator at Ironwood State Prison, before being appointed interim Warden at the Calipat State Prison in 2013. As Warden, Montgomery will earn $138,228 per year.
