(IID will celebrate Public Power Week)…It is next week, October 7 through the 13th.

There will be more than 2,000 other community-owned, not for profit electric utilities that collectively provide electricity to 49 million Americans. Henry Martinez, Manager of the Imperial Irrigation District Energy Department, says they are proud to be community powered. He said Public Power Week gives them the chance to emphasize the advantages of locally grown, locally owned power to their customers. Martinez said their service is reliable and safe and they take pride in serving their friends and neighbors. During Public Power Week the IID will be distributing tote bags filled with informational materials at customer service centers during normal office hours while supplies last. Customers are also invited to connect with IID on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The IID provides electric service to more than 156,000 residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural accounts, representing approximately 450,000. They have delivered power to the Imperial and Coachella Valleys for the past 75 years.
