(Mental Competency trial underway)….It began this week.
Ion Laurentis is accused in the murder of El Centro Attorney Anne Marie Zimmerman. Last December Defense attorneys claimed their client was not mentally capable of assisting in his defense. The defendant was evaluated a few times, but a trial is underway to allow a jury to decide his mental competency. Two Doctors testified for the defense so far this week. The prosecution contends the defendant is faking, and using the process to avoid a trial. Testimony will continue on Monday.
