A 29-year old citizen of El Salvador has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for assaulting a federal agent.
The man , Jose Perdomo , was apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol agents near the New River , just west of Calexico , in March of this year. While resisting arrest , Perdomo threw a large rock at an agent , hitting him in the arm , and then attempted to run back into Mexico. He was taken into custody by other agents before he could re-cross the border. Perdomo pled guilty to the felony charge of Assaulting a Federal Officer and was sentenced to 15 months in prison and 3 years of supervised release.
