The latest arrests occurred in El Centro. Border Patrol agents had observed a group of five illegally enter the U.S. before loading in a Blue PT Cruiser on Interstate 8, west of Yuma. The vehicle headed west on the Interstate. Agents also spotted a black VW Beetle acting as a lookout for the PT Cruiser. With the assistance of the CBP Air and Marine assets, agents were able to follow both vehicles to a gas station in El Centro. Agents approached the vehicles, identified themselves, and determine four inside the PT Cruiser were in the U.S. Illegally and the driver was a United States citizen. Two U.S. Citizens were in the VW. The 3 U.S. Citizens were arrested for prosecution. The four Illegal occupants are being held as material witnesses.
