(Ad Hoc committee will be formed)…It is the idea of District 4 Supervisor Ryan Kelley.

The Committee will be a working group to address the issue of improving public awareness of the election process. The Board of Supervisors agreed to form the Ad Hoc committee at this week’s Board meeting. It will be a 16-member committee. Kelley will be the committee chairman and County Executive Officer Tony Rouhotas will be the vice-chair. Members will be appointed by the 7 cities in the county. The five County Supervisors will each appoint a member. Other members will be public appointees and staff members. The Board asked that committee members be appointed as soon as possible, in order to prepare for the November General Election. Registrar of Voters, Debra Porter, supported the formation of the committee. She said her department is already working on the issues of voter awareness. The CEO said they were also working on the Elections Department website, making it more informative and user friendly.
