(West Fire 100 percent contained)….It was announced Tuesday evening.
The fire began July 6th off Interstate 8 and Willows Road in Alpine. Fire crews from around San Diego County and a Strike Team from Imperial County and Yuma were used to combat the blaze. It burned 504 acres and destroyed 56 structures, including homes, businesses, barns and other outbuildings. Crews remain on the scene mopping up any hot spots they can find. Investigators are also combing the area to try and determine what caused the fire. Officially, no one is even speculating on a possible cause.
