Over 9,000 pounds of drugs collected

(Take Back Days still work)…The latest was April 26th.

A Take Back Day is when residents are given the opportunity to dispense old prescription medicines in a safe way. They are presented by the Drug Enforcement Administration and presented by Law Enforcement Departments nationwide. The DEA has released the numbers for the last Take Back Day. They say the Imperial and San Diego region collected over 9,000 pounds of drugs. The region includes 40 locations in San Diego County and 3 locations in Imperial County. The DEA says in four hours they collected 9,185 pounds of old drugs. The Imperial County Partners in Take Back Day include police departments in Calexico, Imperial, Brawley, El Centro and Calipatria. The California Highway Patrol and the Sheriff’s Office. El Centro Regional Medical Center, Pioneers Memorial Hospital and the Imperial County Office of Education.
