(Two women arrested at the Andrade Port)…The arrests were two separate incidents.
One was reported Sunday, the other on Monday. The Sunday incident occurred at 12:30 in the afternoon. A 42-year-old woman, Mexican citizen arrived at the port in Ford Explorer. She was referred to the secondary inspection area. During the search officers detected anomalies in the spare tire. Officers searched the tire and found 10 wrapped packages inside. The packages tested positive for marijuana. They gave it a street value of $22,000. The woman, a resident of San Bernardino, was arrested and turned over to Imperial County Sheriff’s Deputies. The Monday incident was reported at 10:00 am. A 39-year-old Mexicali resident was driving a Chevy Cheyenne Pick up. She was escorted to the secondary inspection area, where Customs and Border Protection officers discovered 10 wrapped packages of methamphetamine hidden in the vehicles spare tire. The estimated street value was set at $162,000. The woman was arrested and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations Agents. She was processed and booked into Imperial County Jail. Both vehicles and the narcotics were seized by CBP.
