(State Senator delivers a check)… Senator Ben Hueso comes to the Valley with some money for the local OES.
The $187,000 is to help pay for an early warning earthquake detection system. The system is designed to warn those hooked up to it of an impending earthquake magnitude 5.0 or larger. The warning will be 30 to 60 seconds prior to the ground shaking. Emergency Services Officer, Chief Tony Rouhotas, says the system will initially be connected to public safety services, but it will eventually add hospitals and others, including the general public. One idea is to eventually connect the system to the KXO Emergency Alert System.
