The California Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that took the life of an Indio trucker.
The accident occurred at about 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday , May 29 on Gentry Road at Lindsey Road. According to the CHP , a 67-year old big rig driver had stopped his truck in the middle of Gentry Road. The trucker had gotten out of the rig to ask directions. As he walked back to the truck , a pick up was southbound on Gentry nad struck the left front of the parked big rig and then struck the truck driver causing fatal injuries. The pick up , drivgen by 34-year old Jerrod H. King of Bakersfield , co9ntinued out of control and struck two utility poles. King was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence. The collision remains under investigation.
