El Centro Police are investigating a shooting that left one man injured.

According to the ECPD release , officers responded to the 300 block of S. 6th Street at about 7:30 p.m. Monday evening after receiving reports of shots fired. Numerous callers reported what they believed were 3 to 7 gun shots in the north alley of the 600 block of Brighton Avenue. Responding officers found a 30-year old El Centro man with a single gunshot would. According to witnesses , a light colored four-door sedan followed a subject in the area just prior to the shooting. Witnesses said that a passenger in the car got out of the vehicle armed with a handgun and fired toward a group of individuals in the area striking the victim. The wounded man was taken to El Centro Regional Medical for treatment. According to police the incident may be gang related. Investigators are asking anyone who has information concerning the crime contact the El Centro Police Department.
