(Board discusses Public Works)…Several issues were on the agenda.
The Supervisors adopted a proclamation declaring National Public Works Week through May 26th. The week is traditionally used to display the County Public Works Department, educating the residents exactly what Public Works does and why they are essential to the County. The Public Works Open House will be held Wednesday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at the County Public Works Department off State Street in El Centro. There will be static displays and tours of the facility. The Supervisors adopted a Resolution accepting Roads into the Imperial County Road Maintenance System. Public Works Director John Gay said most of the roads are in the Heber area. The Board also adopted a resolution to award a contract to Granite Construction. The almost $1.3 million contract is for Dogwood Road Improvements from El Centro City Limits to the City of Imperial City Limits.
