(Increased water releases)…The BOR says it is for agricultural and environmental reasons.
The Bureau of Reclamation says Colorado River Water flows are being increased because of an increase of water orders. The say agriculture is moving from the Lettuce harvest to more water intensive crops. Also, a pulse flow is currently underway. 105,000 acre feet of water is being released from Morelos Dam in Mexico. The purpose is to try and reinvigorate the Colorado River Delta, which has all but dried up. The Pulse Flow is part of the Minute 319 agreement. The Bureau says releases from Parker Dam normally are increased this time of year, but this year the releases will last longer.
