(It is now a waiting game)…Talks with National Beef have wrapped up.
The last meeting between the County Ad-Hoc Committee and National Beef reportedly centered on Cattle prices. The Committee was put together after National Beef announced they would be closing their Brawley facility on April 4. The County, Imperial Irrigation District, the City of Brawley and the Cattle Industry reacted quickly, and formed the Ad-Hoc Committee. The committee was to develop a package of incentives that could convince National Beef to change their minds. Reports are that the incentive package has been presented and it is now up to National Beef to decide. Sources say a decision is expected this week.
