(Border Patrol agents seize 13 pounds of methamphetamine)….The seizure occurred at around 6:00 am Tuesday.
Agents say a 1995 Honda Accord approached the Highway 111 checkpoint, near Niland. They say a Border Patrol Canine Detection Team alerted to the vehicle and the driver was referred to the secondary inspection area. During the inspection agents discovered multiple individually wrapped packages of methamphetamine hidden inside a void behind the vehicle’s radio, underneath the dashboard. The packages had a combined weight of 13.99 pounds, with an estimated street value of over $167, 000. The driver, a 27-year-old US Citizen and the passenger, a 47-year-old male lawful permanent resident from Mexico, were taken into custody. The suspects, along with the narcotics and the vehicle were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation,
