Bill may have opened the door for Public/Private Partnerships

(Good news from the Omnibus Bill)….The $1.1 trillion temporary spending bill was approved by the House this week.

The Border Trade Alliance says the 1600 page bill contains some good news for communities seeking to expand the Ports of Entry in their area. They the bill clears the way for a pilot program for new Public/Private Partnerships. That is one of the ways being looked at to fund the expansion of the Downtown Calexico port. The bill does not say if Calexico is included in the pilot project, but if the project is a success, it could be good news for the local port. The Omnibus bill also includes over $100 million to hire an additional 2,000 Customs and Border Protection officers along the border.
