(Governors meet over the weekend)….The California Governor traveled to San Diego to meet Baja California Governor Francisco Vega De La Madrid.
It was the first time Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. met with his Mexican Counter-part. De La Madrid took office in November. The Governors had lunch at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel. Officials with the Baja Governors said the lunch was basically a meet and greet. They said De La Madrid offered Brown to make an official visit to Baja California. Brown has not visited the neighbors to the south since 2011. During the luncheon the two Governors agreed to strengthen ties, focusing on issues such as border crossings, the environment, economic development, education, health and security.
