Defendant recieves 52 years

(Another defendant in Rosa’s death sentenced)….Robert Rosas Jr. was ambushed and killed July 23rd, 2009.

Rosas was a Border Patrol agent tracking suspected illegal migrants near Campo. Five individuals ambushed the Imperial Valley native, shooting him several times. Officials say the five were intent on stealing the night vision equipment used by Border Patrol agents. 28-year-old Marcos Rodriguez-Perez was later arrested in Tijuana and turned over the San Diego investigators. This week he was sentenced to 52 years in federal prison. Another suspect, Christian Daniel Castro Alvarez had previously been sentenced to 40 years in federal prison. Jose Luis Ramirez Dorantes and Emilio Samyn Gonzalez Arenazas have both entered guilty pleas and are awaiting sentencing. The fifth suspect, Jose Jun Chacon Morales remains a fugitive.
