(Supervisors to be asked to oppose Court decision)….The Imperial County Superior Court has decided to reorganize.
Beginning June 1, they will begin closing the court in Calexico, the Jail Court and the Juvenile Court. They will be moved to El Centro and Brawley. During a recent meeting with the County, Court officials said the decision was firm. They said it was due to economic reasons. District 1 Supervisor John Renison said he was not happy with the decision. He has said the reorganization will place an increased cost on the county. He also said it would place an undue inconvenience on the City of Calexico. He said Calexico has already taken a position to oppose the court decision. He plans to ask his fellow Supervisors to do the same. Renison said he and others are working to prevent the reorganization. The Supervisor said he was also upset that the courts did not notify the county of the plan to reorganize. Renison says he learned about the move from a bailiff.
